- There's an enormous wealth of ideas in diversity. Diversity is about accepting, understanding and appreciating the people around you. It's about different perspectives and opinions, and it's about the value and power that lies in our differences. I have no doubt that the will to ensure diversity is there, but our subconscious minds tend to draw us towards those who are the most similar to ourselves, whether it comes to gender, age or personality.
Loveleen Brenna, founder of Seema - Center for Diversity Management, largely agrees. However, she believes that the diversity debate today has a slightly too problem-oriented focus. Ethnicity, gender, orientation and age are only a few aspects of what it means to be a human. Diversity cannot be defined solely from mathematical principles, Loveleen adds.
